The Schools Energy Co-op held it's Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 25th September 2025. An annual meeting is a requirement for every registered Co-operative Society, it gives our members a chance to have their say and vote on the running of the co-op. We held the meeting online over Zoom, and around 40 people attended - thank you to everyone for supporting our work putting solar panels on schools and community buildings across the UK.
Highlights from this year's AGM included...
- A recap of our achievements this year, including installing solar on four more sites and registering sites for the Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGO) scheme.
- Agreeing to a payment of 4.5-5% interest to our shareholder members, and the distribution of £60,000 as dividends to our member schools.
- An estimated 221 tonnes carbon dioxide saved from entering the atmosphere this year, thanks to our solar panels generating 3.5GWh. This is the equivalent of around 1,300 average households electricity usage.
- An update from other Energy4All co-ops: we heard about the launch of Dundee Renewable Energy Society, a 2.5 MW solar meadow powering the James Hutton Institute, and activities from North Lincolnshire Community Energy, who are putting solar on rooftops in Scunthorpe.
- A plan to increase our communications. Schools' Energy Co-op tends to rely heavily on word of mouth to find new member schools and we would like to reach out through other means this year. This has recently included a website refresh.
